Green silicon carbide powder- Green SIC
Silicon carbide is produced by high-temperature smelting of raw materials such as quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), and table salt in a resistance furnace. The product is hexagonal crystal with a specific gravity of 3.20-3.25 and a microhardness of 2840-3320kg/mm2, belonging to α- SiC.

Silicon carbide (SiC) is a man-made mineral with high hardness, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, and resistance to high-temperature oxidation.
Silicon carbide has a hardness of up to 9.4 (Mohs hardness 9.4/Knoop hardness 2600), exhibiting high strength.
It possesses high thermal conductivity and strength at high temperatures (at 1000℃, the strength of silicon carbide is 7.5 times that of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃)). Silicon carbide has an elastic modulus of 410 GPa, its strength does not decrease below 1600℃, and it does not melt under normal pressure but decomposes at 2700℃.
