Membrane supporting filter – Ceramic membrane filter

The materials of membrane filters are usually stainless steel, plastic lined carbon steel, UPVC, PPR. The typical number of membrane elements to be loaded is 1, 5, 7, 19, 37, 61, 91.

The ceramic membrane operates in a cross flow filtration mode. The inlet water enters the ceramic membrane module, and some of it passes through the membrane surface to become the produced water. The other part carries suspended solids and other impurities and is discharged from the membrane module to become concentrated water. The discharged concentrated water is re pressurized and then circulated back into the membrane module, maintaining the shear force generated by the high flow rate on the membrane surface, taking away the suspended solids, oil and other impurities intercepted on the membrane surface, thereby keeping the pollution layer at a relatively thin level.


If the suspended solid load in the influent is high (usually>50NTU) and a higher water production rate (>95%) is required, or if the pollution resistance tendency is high due to organic matter, oil, etc., it is recommended to use cross flow operation. When operating in cross flow mode, a small stream of water (usually 10-100% of the filtered flow) will be returned to the front end of the system. A portion of the reflux flow (5-20%) can be continuously discharged to avoid excessive suspended solid content in the capillary channels.

    • Structural diagram and installation instructions of single core membrane components

      The installation of single membrane components can be carried out after the overall assembly of the equipment is completed, but it should be designed reasonably to prevent situations where assembly cannot be carried out. The specific operation is:

      Remove the upper and lower ends, install the sealing element on the upper part of the membrane element, with one person inserting from above and the other person cooperating below. After installing the sealing element on the lower part, reinstall the upper and lower ends.


    • 2. Structural diagram and installation instructions of multi-core membrane components

      When installing ceramic membrane elements, place the membrane shell cylinder on the ground, install the membrane elements one by one in the corresponding installation positions, place the membrane elements in the flower plate holes of the membrane filter, expose both ends, and install seal 1 and seal 2 as shown in the figure. Then tighten the compression nuts, and finally tighten the upper and lower flanges. Finally, use a lifting machine to install the membrane shell on the equipment support to complete the installation of the membrane elements. 

      During the installation process, attention should be paid to the fragility of ceramic membrane components and handle them with care. When designing multi-core membrane components, ergonomics should be taken into consideration. The upper and lower membrane shell flanges should be designed to support them, and sufficient maintenance space should be reserved around them. It is recommended to try not to lift out the membrane shell and replace the membrane components.
