Boron Carbide Powder

Boron carbide, also known as black diamond, has a molecular formula of B4C and is usually a gray black micro powder. It is one of the three hardest known materials, with a Mohs hardness of 9.3, commonly used in industries such as tank armor, bulletproof vests, and nuclear power.

Boron carbide can absorb a large number of neutrons without forming any radioactive isotopes, making it an ideal neutron absorber in nuclear power plants. It has the characteristics of low density, high strength, high temperature stability, and good chemical stability. Widely used in wear-resistant materials, ceramic reinforcement phases, especially in lightweight armor, reactor neutron absorbers, and other areas.

Shandong Huayi Tech Co., Ltd manufactures Boron Carbide powders by water classification at our factory in YANTAI, CHINA . All chemistry and sizing is controlled to meet exact customer requirements. Boron Carbide powder is produced using core patented technology, with a concentrated and uniform particle size distribution in the product.

All Boron Carbide manufactured at Shandong Huayi Tech Co., Ltd meets or exceeds ANSI and JIS or FEPA standards for product quality.

Product Details

Hard black glossy crystals. The hardness is lower than industrial diamond, but higher than silicon carbide. Compared to most pottery, it has lower fragility. Has a large thermal neutron capture cross-section. Strong anti chemical effect. Not susceptible to erosion by heated hydrogen fluoride and nitric acid. Soluble in molten alkali, insoluble in water and acid. Relative density (d204) is 2.508~2.512. Melting point 2350 ℃. Boiling point 3500 ℃.
